trim & clip framing DIY
Like everything else in our home what is on the walls changes as much as the color of the walls. I make new stuff, buy new stuff, redo existing stuff… and for large artwork pieces framing can be expensive. This portrait of my husband I drew last year is 32” W x 40” H will be a big chunk of change when I finally take it in to be framed. I still want to display it in the mean time with all the wall gallery home décor trends going on, so this is what I came up. My inspiration (f

Pattern and color are for me. Fabric is that. So a curtain that I can open and let the light all the way in or close completely for privacy is what dresses our windows. Can’t follow a dress pattern very well… As in I’m not for hire on those projects. That disclosed I do get out my sewing machine frequently. I can do pa

abstract art DIY
I draw and paint. Most of the work I’ve done has been my own sketchy style: portraits, flowers, patterns, some animals, some character illustration for product, etc. One thing that has been kinda intimidating for me was abstract art. This was because I was not quite sure how to break up the subject matter in a meaningful way. But I think I found something that works for me, AND I think it can work for anyone who wants to dabble in abstract art. I worked on my piece for a coup

painted rug
Said I'd post more on the painted rug...and here it is. I had this perfectly fine woven jute rug, but my decor has changed 12 times since it was purchased and don't want to spend the $$$ on new one so I chose to paint it! There are TONS of examples of all kinds of painted rugs if you just do a search online for ‘painted rug’. My inspiration was this Jonathan Adler rug found here: http://www.therugcompany.com/int/harlequin-multi Supplies: paint, paint brush (I used 2” brush),

Welcome to paulatize! Name is what my mom says I do to things that enter my project list. It is a long list and changes minute to minute.
